The
Type Directors Clubis the leading international organization whose purpose is to support excellence in typography, both in print and on screen. Through their annual competition and exhibition and frequent salons and workshops, they aim to celebrate the current stars of the typographic field and educate its future leaders.
They are now inviting submissions to their
Annual Communication Design Competitionand
Annual Typeface Design Competition, the most highly-respected and selective competitions of typographic and typeface design from around the world.

There is no separate category for student type designs. They should be entered in one of the design subcategories.
Extended or revised versions of older, previously published type designs are not eligible. This includes upgraded typefaces with newly expanded glyph sets in the original script (
e.g., with added Latin glyph subsets, design variants, small capitals, ligatures, swashes, alternates, numerical styles, expert, localized and historical forms, stylistic sets, ornaments). However, designs that have authorized additions of scripts other than the original (
e.g., from Latin to Cyrillic, Greek, Arabic, Armenian, Thai, Han/Kanji, etc.) are eligible.

Entries must have been produced or published during
2014. Submissions can be by anyone associated with the entry.
Prize
Entries selected by the jury will receive
Certificates of Typographic Excellence. They will be exhibited in the
61st TDC Exhibition, and appear in
Typography 36.
The opening of
TDC61will be held in
New York Cityand will be on display during the summer of
2015.
