The

Lynn Painter-Stainers Prize

was created in

2005

by the

Worshipful Company of Painter-Stainers

and the

Lynn Foundation

to encourage the very best creative representational painting and promote the skill of draftsmanship.

The range and quality of artists entering and exhibiting in the exhibition have grown each year and its reputation amongst artists is outstanding.

Only original, two-dimensional works in

any painting or drawing media

, that have been completed in the last three years, and that have not been previously exhibited, are eligible. All works must be for sale, except commissioned portraits.

Artists may submit up to four works. Works of art submitted must not exceed 72 inches (

183 cm

) in their largest dimension including frame. Works on paper must be framed. No metal or plastic frames will be accepted for judging. Works submitted must be available for exhibition.

Standard entry fee is 15 GBP per work, student entry fee is 8 GBP.

Eligibility

Open to artists born or resident in the UK only, aged over 18.

Prize

With a total prize money of

30,000 GBP

(approx. 39,370 USD) the Prize is one of the most prestigious awards to artists in the UK.

• First Prize: 15,000 GBP

• Second Prize: 4,000 GBP

• Young Artist Award: 4,000 GBP (

for an artist who is 25 years of age or under

)

• Brian Botting Prize for Works of the Human Figure: 5,000 GBP (

for an artist who is 30 years of age or under

)

• Peoples’ Prize: 2,000 GBP

During a reception at the exhibition in

London

the winners are awarded their prizes and the first prize-winner is also awarded a specially designed and engraved

gold medal

. Moreover, an

exhibition

of selected works will take place at the Mall Galleries, London from

7-13 March 2017
