The Anthology Cover Art Competition 2026 is an international visual art competition organised by Anthology magazine to foster and support both established and emerging artists and provide a publication-focused platform for original creative work. The competition brings a wide range of visual practices together within an editorial cover-art context.
Submissions may include painting, printmaking, mixed media, photography and digital media, and there is no prescribed theme. Artists are encouraged to consider the visual aesthetic of Anthology when selecting work, although the competition accommodates varied styles and subject matter.
The competition gives traditional and digital visual artists an opportunity to present work specifically suited to a magazine-cover setting and to have it considered by an independent judging panel. Its broad cross-media scope makes it relevant to creators working across contemporary fine art, photography and digital practice.
Entry fee: €18 per entry from March 1 to October 31, 2026; each submission requires a separate entry form and separate fee, while group-entry fees are available on request but exact group rates are not published.
Eligibility
Open to artists of all nationalities living anywhere in the world, with original artwork only; one image is permitted per entry, Generative AI is prohibited, works must not have appeared on another publication cover or be entered simultaneously in another contest, and image rights must not previously have been sold or granted to a third party.
Prize
The winner receives €500, publication of the winning artwork on the cover of a future issue of Anthology, and editorial coverage in print and online; the cash prize is paid upon publication of the winning artwork.
