Content Vienna 2026 is a digital design competition run by the Vienna Business Agency, a service offered by the City of Vienna. The call supports the development of creative multimedia productions and is aimed at strengthening Vienna as a location for innovative digital media.
The competition invites creative digital projects that are still in development, including prototypes, demo versions and concepts. Eligible formats include games, augmented and virtual reality, animation, visual effects, 360° video, interactive narrative formats, web and mobile applications, digital content publishing platforms, serial online content, wearable IT applications, machine learning, artificial intelligence and quantum-computing-related projects.
For 2026, the programme also includes a focus on Digital Design for Health, covering creative digital projects connected with health, wellbeing, care or mental health. Submissions are assessed by an independent jury on creative quality or innovation potential, team qualification and professionalism, implementation planning, cost estimate and project impact.
There is no entry fee.
Eligibility
Open to adult natural persons active as entrepreneurs or intending to set up a company, and to legal entities such as developers, studios, startups, companies, private individuals or associations, submitting one unfinished and unreleased creative digital project with a qualifying Vienna connection.
Prize
The Vienna Business Agency will award up to five production grants of €10,000 each, plus one €10,000 special prize for Digital Design for Health in cooperation with the Open Innovation in Science Center of the Ludwig Boltzmann Gesellschaft. Up to five applicants may also receive the Content Vienna Connecting: South by Southwest special prize, including a travel grant of up to €1,500 each from the Vienna Business Agency and an SXSW 2027 ticket worth more than €1,200 from WKO ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA – Creative Industries. Projects receiving a production grant or the Digital Design for Health special prize may receive an additional €1,000 women’s bonus if women are demonstrably involved in a leading position.
