International Print Award Carmen Arozena

Carmen Arozena was a Spanish artist, born in the canary island La Palma. Following her premature death in 1963 her family and friends initiated in 1973 this Print Award in order to perpetuate her name and work.

There is a great variety of printing techniques among the selected prints like the traditional woodcut, dry-point and etching or the more innovative ones created by artists pushing and expanding constantly this means of expression.

Artists are invited to present one print only, which has neither been exhibited nor awarded before, without framing and made between 2013 and 2015.

Prints should be signed, numbered and dated. The edition must not exceed 25 copies plus artists’s proofs. Maximum support dimensions are 70cm x 100cm and the minimum support dimensions are 20cm x 20cm, not exceeding at any case 1cm of height.

Topic, technique and support are free.

There is no entry fee.

Eligibility


This Award is open to artists of all nationalities.

Prize


The judging panel will award two prizes:

• First prize: 4000 Euro (approx. 4,500 USD)
• Second prize: 2000 Euro (approx. 2,250 USD)

All awarded and selected prints will be exhibited at the "Espacio Canario de Creacion y Cultura" in Madrid, where the prize-giving takes place, followed by an exhibition at the "Casa Salazar" in Santa Cruz de La Palma (Canary Island).
