The Hopper Prize Fall 2019

The Hopper Prize is offering multiple individual artist grants totalling 5,000 USD awarded through an open call art competition juried by leading contemporary curators. They are committed to supporting artists from diverse cultural backgrounds at all stages of their professional careers. All artists are encouraged to apply.

The Prize accepts entries in all media:

• Painting
• Photography
• Sculpture
• Drawing
• Video
• Performance
• Conceptual
• Experimental
• Installation


JPG files should not exceed 1920 pixels on their longest dimension. Individual image files should not exceed 1 megabyte. If you are submitting video art or documentation of performance art, upload a single frame JPG as a cover image, then use the indicated field in the submission form to enter a URL to a video hosting service such as Youtube or Vimeo, or your own website.

You can apply as a team or collaborative project. Artists collectives are also encouraged to participate.

The Hopper Prize Fall 2019 grant winners will be selected by Karen Patterson (Curator at Fabric Workshop and Museum) and Lauren R. O’Connell (Assistant Curator of Contemporary Art at Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art)

Entry fee is 40 USD.

Eligibility


Open worldwide to all artists age 18 and older working in any media. There are no restrictions on genre, subject matter, or media.

Prize


• 5 artists will receive 1,000 USD each in unrestricted grant awards
• 30 artists will have their work archived at hopperprize.org
• Early applications will be considered for Instagram artist features @hopperprize
