What Design Can Do Climate Action Challengeis a global design competition that calls on designers, creative thinkers and imaginative trouble-shooters from all countries and disciplines to submit innovative ideas for helping people adapt to climate change.
The best designs are innovative, practical, scalable, affordable, and easily understood. The
Climate Action Challengeis open to everyone, yet specifically aimed at designers and creative entrepreneurs. Both existing and completely new ideas and solutions may be entered.
The challenge specifically focusses on the poorest and most vulnerable people, particularly in the
Global South, who will suffer the brunt of climate change.
There are three main categories:
• Student • Creative professional • Start-upThe top ideas in each track will be evaluated by an international jury and selected to join a special acceleration programme in the last phase of the challenge.
There is no entry fee.
Eligibility
Open worldwide to designers, artists, engineers, architects, creative entrepreneurs, inventors, scientists, tech developers, students and interested amateurs.
Prize
The winners, selected and evaluated by an international jury, share an award package worth
900,000 Euro(
approx. 1,026,135 USD) which includes a production budget and a tailor-made acceleration programme aimed at making the winning ideas, prototypes or startups investment ready.
The winners will be announced in
Octoberduring the Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven, Netherlands.
