The
5th Lumix Festival for Young Photojournalisminvites young photojournalists to compete for one of the 60 photography exhibitions, the
FREELENS Awardand two
Honorable Mentions.
Applications can consist of
slideshows,
multimdedia-reportages,
scrollytelling storiesor
web documentaries. Even purely filmed / cinematic works are accepted if they are web-reportages shot with a photographic view. Documentary (
short) films however are not allowed.
Only one reportage, essay or series (
i.e. portrait series) with photojournalistic character can be submitted per applicant. The work shall consist of at least 15 to a maximum of 30 photographs. The work may already be published or awarded at other festivals (
but this is not a precondition).
The
Festivalaims to be a platform for discussions, a picture show and a talent forum that appeals to professional picture editors and an interested expert audience as well as those who simply love photography.
The exhibitions also accompany an attractive program which includes portfolio-reviews, lectures, panel-discussions, guided tours and a technique showroom. The
2016 Lumix Festivalis scheduled for
15th Junethrough
19th June, 2016at the Design Center in Hanover, Germany.
There is no entry fee.
Eligibility
Open worldwide to young photojournalists, photographers, students of photography and trainees who are not older than 35 at the time of application.
Prize
A team of curators from the
University of Applied Sciences and Arts Hannoverand the photojournalist's organisation
FREELENSwill choose the
60 works to be exhibitedat the festival from the pool of submissions.
After that, a five-person international jury chooses the winner of the
FREELENS Awardout of the 60 exhibited stories. The prize includes
10,000 Euro(
approx. 10,820 USD) and a trophy.
Moreover, an international jury of multimedia experts also chooses the winner of the
LUMIX Multimedia Awardout of the featured multimedia productions. The prize includes a prize money of
5,000 Euro(
approx. 5,400 USD).
