PigPrints Drawing & Etching Student Prize 2015

deadline: April 15, 2015

PigPrints, an online gallery and printmaking studio based in Milan (Italy), is hosting its first International Drawing & Etching Student Prize 2015.

The purpose of this prize is to give a student the possibility of producing a limited edition etching. PigPrints will then add his/her work to the existing list of established artists that are already part of the gallery or that will join in the future. Furthermore, PigPrints will grant not only the usual ’exposure’ but also a monetary reward.

Entrants must submit an original drawing in black, pen or pencil, in view of producing an etching. It is not required for the entrants to have knowledge of intaglio techniques. The winner will receive from PigPrints all the necessary materials, instructions and assistance to transfer the drawing onto the plate.

Any artistic style will be considered. All drawings will be judged on the basis of their content as well as for their technical and graphic qualities.

Every student can submit up to two entries. Drawings must not exceed 20 cm on the longest side and 15 cm on the shortest side. Images must be submitted at 1024 pixel (longest side), 72 dpi JPG, RGB or grayscale.

There is a 10 Euro entry fee for each submitted drawing.

Eligibility

The prize is open to students from all over the world, who are 18+, enrolled in an art school, design school, college or university during the academic year 2014-2015.

Students who graduated in 2014 are also eligible.

Prize

The winner will be awarded a prize of 1,000 Euro (approx. 1,130 USD) and retain 50% of the edition, which will be printed in no less than 50 copies. All costs for the edition will be covered by PigPrints.
