The Textile Society Bursaries and Awards 2015

deadline: January 23, 2015

The Textile Society is committed to supporting and developing the study of textiles in the UK. Four bursaries are available in 2015, supporting internships or apprenticeships and BA or MA final year projects or dissertations. The judges are looking for projects that are viable and have vision.

Awards topic:

• Art and Design - study of Fine Art or Design with a textile/fashion bias.

This is deliberately broadly described to allow for all aspects of textile education. Students from any study area may respond to the topic. A project might be concerned with one or more study area, for example: Textile design, which could relate to art and design, or promotion and technology.

Funds for the bursaries are raised every year at antique textile fairs in London and Manchester. The awards are announced at the Manchester fair and there will be the opportunity for winners to exhibit at the 2015 fair.

Maximum one application per student.

There is no entry fee.

Eligibility

Students undertaking any UK educational textile/fashion or related course are eligible.

Prize

There will be four bursaries awarded: two for undergraduates and two for postgraduates.

• Undergraduate Bursary/Awards - £1,000 and £500
• Postgraduate Bursary/Awards- £1,000 and £500

There is also a separate Critical Writing Award, given to a student (undergraduate or postgraduate) for an outstanding piece of critical writing relating to textiles or dress.
