An international jury awards the
Leica Oskar Barnack Awardto professional photographers whose unerring powers of observation capture and express the relationship between man and the environment in the most graphic form, in a sequence of a minimum of 10 up to a maximum of 12 images.
There are two categories:

Leica Oskar Barnack Award(
open to professional photographers)
•
Leica Oskar Barnack Newcomer Award(
open to all future professional photographers who are not older than 25 years)
Entry submissions must be a self-contained series of images in which the photographer perceives and documents the interaction between man and the environment with acute vision and contemporary visual style –
creative,
groundbreakingand
innovative.
Participants must send in a series of photographs taken in
2017/2018or long-term projects containing at least one photo from
2017. Only one entry per photographer is accepted.
Entries will be accepted exclusively as online submissions between
March 1and
April 5, 2018. All digital images prepared for uploading must be 1200 pixels high. The width of the image is variable in proportion.
There is no entry fee.

Prize
The winner of the main category
Leica Oskar Barnack Awardreceives a cash prize of
25,000 EUR(
approx. 31,080 USD) and in addition a
Leica M cameraand
lens worth 10,000 EUR(
approx. 12,430 USD).
The winner in the category
Leica Oskar Barnack Newcomer Awardreceives a cash prize of
10,000 EURand a
Leica M cameraand
lens worth 10,000 EUR.
Ten finalists will be awarded each with a cash prize of 2,500 EUR (approx. 3,100 USD) for their series.
