The World Food Photography Awards 2027, sponsored by Tenderstem® Bimi® Broccolini, marks the 16th edition of the international competition dedicated to telling food stories through photography. The awards celebrate food in all its forms and contexts, from growing, harvesting and cooking to eating, celebrating and surviving.
More than 25 categories cover a wide range of photographic approaches, including landscape, travel, portrait, documentary, commercial and mobile photography. The 2027 edition also introduces A Feast of Flowers, a one-year-only category exploring the relationship between food and flowers, from kitchen gardens and edible petals to floral still lifes and crops growing alongside flowers.
The international judging panel is chaired by food photographer David Loftus and includes professionals from photography, publishing, food and hospitality. With categories encompassing food culture, production, people, drinks, innovation and contemporary visual storytelling, the competition provides photographers with numerous ways to present food-related work to an international audience.
Entry fee: Adults: £35 for up to 6 individual photographs, then £7 per additional image; On the Phone: £7 per image; Food Stylist and M&S Food Rising Star: £35 per portfolio of 5 images; Young (under 18), RPS Student Food Photographer of the Year and eligible UK for UNHCR Food as Home entrants: free, with up to 5 entries.
Eligibility
Open to photographers worldwide, with adults aged 18+ and Young entrants aged 17 or under on the closing date; organisers, their families, marketing and promotional personnel, judges and sponsors are excluded, previously shortlisted images and photographs that have won the Overall Winner title of another photography competition are ineligible, and generative AI must not be used to create, replace, extend or materially reconstruct any visual element.
Prize
The Overall Winner receives £5,000 GBP, while category winners receive a trophy if attending the Awards Evening and finalist images are exhibited at the Mall Galleries in London; the Louis Jadot Wine Photographer of the Year winner receives £1,000 GBP, the Award for Innovation winner receives a £1,400 GBP bursary and a four-week residency at the Hugo Burge Foundation, the RPS Student winner and two runners-up receive RPS membership with the winning student also receiving publication and an interview, and the Bimi® Prize winner receives dinner for two at a Michelin-starred or equivalent restaurant plus travel expenses of up to $500 USD per person and placement of the winning image on the 2027 Awards Evening invitation.
